Love Is In The Doing...

When we love someone our love becomes demonstrable or real only through our exertion-through the fact that for that someone...we take an extra step or walk an extra mile. Love is not effortless. To the contrary, love is effortful.
-M. Scott Peck

Take that extra step for your partner today! When your mate makes a request to do the dishes, make dinner, take out the trash or bathe the kids, do it happily and with no strings attached!

Love 101

Don't Be Mad...It's Just a Brand New Kinda Me!

Alicia Keys has definitely made a come back with her new single entitled "Brand New Me", which I absolutely LOVE!! I heard it for the first time on the Wendy Williams show (How You Doin?? In my Wendy voice lol) and thought the lyrics were just so honest and pure and completely relatable to everybody. So, I was inspired to write and share with you about it! Listen to it and tell me what you think and how it speaks to you!

As for me, it speaks volumes in my world in a couple of ways....

I've come to a point where I'm FINALLY comfortable in my own skin, comfortable with my own thoughts, my goofy personality, my career choice, I'm sexy and I KNOW IT...loving what I see when I look in the mirror :) May sound vain, but I didn't always feel that way...so now I own it and it feels soooo freaking good!! More importantly, this brand new me is a wife and a MOMMY (my daughter is EVERYTHING) and I love every bit of it. So, If I walk a little taller......

As this song pertains to the Principles of Love I believe that your relationship with yourself is the foundation on which all your other relationships are built. We get so caught up in trying to find love when the key is finding yourself; It's amazing how attractive you become. I've found that loving you creates a happy you, and a happy you attracts love.

Here are just a few ways that I've come up with that show how loving you also opens the door for someone else to love you too! Please comment and add your thoughts as well:)

1.  Loving Who You Are Breeds Confidence
-When your confident in who you are your more relaxed and free (free from pain, worry, insecurities),  attracting the right kind of people that will probably treat you with the respect you deserve!

2. Loving Who You Are Attracts Others That Do The Same
-Being happy can help you find a mate who also has a positive attitude and outlook on life, rather someone full of negative energy.

3. Loving Who You Are Helps You Deal With the Disappointments
- Sometimes that guy or girl that you have your eye on is just not that into you! Being confident in the qualities you have and what you can offer in a relationship will stop you from losing sleep at night over the wrong person!

Talk to me!

Me & LOVE Got A Thing Going On...

So, I've finally found my passion! You know that thing you do because you love it. That thing you don't mind waking up early for...or staying up into the wee hours of the night for. That thing that with no added pressure ignites a fire inside of you…to want more, to do more. But, more importantly it's that thing that I believe God has put in my heart to do...well, at least for the moment! (God hasn't created me for just one thing :))

What is this "thing" you ask? What can have me so excited that I'd create a blog about it? It's simple. And I've chosen today to share this with you because it gives meaning to what today is all about. It's LOVE....And we kinda got a thing going on!

"In the end nothing we do or say in this lifetime will matter as much as the way we have loved one another" -Daphne Rose Kingma

This statement means so much to me that I have decided to dedicate the next three years of my life really pursuing its meaning, learning the science behind it and how it is applicable to those in a love relationship, whether with themselves, a spouse, friend or family member. So, my running title would be Marriage and Family Therapist, but with time Relationship Expert would be ideal!

I'm not presenting to you as an expert, YET, but a friend rather, just wanting to be open and converse with you all about the title of this blog "The Principles of Love". Together we can discover what they are and what they mean from our own experiences and personal encounters...SO LETS TALK!

PS: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!
